Haryana CM Pledges Rs 4 Crore Aid, Renames Village to Honor Martyr Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar

Palwal (National Times): In a moving gesture of tribute and solidarity, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has announced a series of significant steps to honor the memory of Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar Sharma, who lost his life in cross-border shelling in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch region.

While visiting the martyr’s native village of Nagla Mohammadpur in Palwal district, CM Saini declared financial assistance of Rs 4 crore for the grieving family. Further, he announced that the village will be renamed “Dineshpur”, in remembrance of the soldier’s ultimate sacrifice.

In addition to the renaming, the Chief Minister revealed that a memorial park, titled “Operation Sindoor Dinesh Kumar Park”, will be developed on land voluntarily donated by the martyr’s father, Daya Chand Sharma. The park is intended to serve as a permanent tribute to Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar’s courage and patriotism. The state also promised additional infrastructure and public services for the village to commemorate the fallen hero.

Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar, aged 32, was killed on May 7, 2025, during a fierce exchange of fire along the Line of Control, shortly after India launched Operation Sindoor—a strategic counter-terrorism mission targeting militant camps across the border. His final rites were held with full military honors, with crowds chanting patriotic slogans in a powerful show of respect and unity.

CM Saini, addressing the public during his visit, remarked, “The courage shown by Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar Sharma symbolizes the strength and spirit of India. His sacrifice will never be forgotten, and the Haryana government stands firmly by his family during this difficult time.”

The Chief Minister’s announcement has been lauded by residents and officials alike as a dignified and meaningful homage, ensuring that the legacy of the brave soldier will be forever etched in the identity and landscape of his birthplace.
