Liberals Reclaim Terrebonne by Single Vote After Recount, Inch Closer to Majority

Ottawa, May 11, 2025 — In a dramatic electoral twist, the Liberal Party has regained the riding of Terrebonne by just one vote, following a judicial recount, multiple sources confirmed.

Initially called for the Liberals on election night, the seat was later declared a Bloc Québécois win during post-election validation. However, due to the razor-thin margin—less than 0.1%—a recount was mandated by Elections Canada’s chief electoral officer.

With the recount now concluded, Liberal candidate Tatiana Auguste has officially been declared the Member of Parliament for Terrebonne.

“Tatiana Auguste ran a strong campaign, and we’re excited she’ll be joining our Liberal team in Parliament,” said party spokesperson Matteo Rossi.

The win brings the Liberal seat count to 170, placing them just two seats short of a majority in the House of Commons.
