New Delhi (National Times): Barely hours after a high-level ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan was announced, Pakistan has reportedly violated the terms by launching fresh cross-border shelling late Friday night, sparking outrage in New Delhi and endangering the fragile truce.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) held an emergency press conference where officials condemned Pakistan’s breach of the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border. According to the MEA, the violations occurred within hours of an understanding reached earlier in the day between the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both nations.
“This intrusion is extremely condemnable. Pakistan is solely responsible for it,” the MEA stated. “The Indian Army is taking necessary action to repel the aggression.”
The renewed hostilities follow a ceasefire pact brokered by the United States, with President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio hailing it as a step toward regional stability. Friday’s developments now cast serious doubts over Pakistan’s intentions and the viability of peace efforts.
Military sources have confirmed that Indian troops are responding proportionately to suppress hostile firing and secure civilian populations near border villages.
The MEA has urged Islamabad to “take immediate and appropriate action to stop this intrusion,” warning that India’s restraint should not be mistaken for weakness.
