Explosions Rock Srinagar as Ceasefire Crumbles; J&K CM Omar Abdullah Reacts

Srinagar, May 10, 2025 — The fragile ceasefire between India and Pakistan appears to have collapsed as multiple explosions were heard across Srinagar late Saturday evening, sending shockwaves through the city and heightening fears of further escalation.

Moments after the blasts, Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah took to social media, posting on X (formerly Twitter):
“What the hell just happened to the ceasefire? Explosions heard across Srinagar!!!”

Authorities have not yet confirmed the source of the explosions, but preliminary reports suggest possible cross-border shelling or aerial intrusion. Security forces have been deployed across key locations, and airspace surveillance is being intensified.

This comes on the heels of repeated ceasefire violations in Jammu, and escalating tensions following drone strikes and military exchanges in recent days.

Residents are urged to stay indoors as the situation unfolds.
