Universal Studios to Launch First Indian Theme Park Near Delhi by 2027

New Delhi, May 2, 2025 — Universal Studios is set to make its Indian debut with an indoor theme park located near Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.  The project is part of a collaboration with Bharti Real Estate, which is developing a 3-million-square-foot mall in the Delhi Aerocity area.  Approximately 300,000 square feet of this mall have been earmarked for the theme park, with completion expected by mid-2027.

The upcoming mall is part of Bharti’s larger 17-million-square-foot Aerocity development, aiming to transform the region into a premier commercial and entertainment hub.  The Delhi government’s recent approval for 24/7 operations of restaurants and bars in Aerocity is anticipated to enhance the area’s appeal to tourists and residents alike.

Universal Studios’ entry into India aligns with the country’s growing indoor entertainment sector, which currently spans 6.6 million square feet across 523 locations.  This figure is projected to reach 11 million square feet by 2028, driven by large-format retail and mall expansions.

This development marks a significant milestone for India’s entertainment industry, bringing one of the world’s most iconic theme park brands to the country.
