Udhampur (National Times): A soldier lost his life on Thursday during an ongoing encounter in the Basantgarh sector of Udhampur, the Army’s White Knight Corps announced via X (formerly Twitter).
According to the Army, which coordinates closely with local police, the operation began early today following “specific intelligence” about militant presence in the area. “Contact was established and a fierce firefight ensued,” the White Knight Corps posted, as reported by the Kashmir News Observer.
During the initial exchange of fire, one soldier suffered serious injuries. Despite prompt medical treatment, he later succumbed to his wounds. The identity of the fallen soldier has not yet been released.
The Army confirmed that the operation against the militants is still underway, with containment and clearance teams continuing to sweep the area. Further updates are expected as the situation develops.
