Shakti Dubey Secures All-India Rank 1 in UPSC 2024; Harshita Goyal, Dongre Archit Parag Follow

New Delhi (Rajeev Sharma): The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Tuesday declared the results of the Civil Services Examination 2024, with Shakti Dubey emerging as the topper. A graduate in Biochemistry from the University of Allahabad, Dubey cleared the exam with Political Science and International Relations as her optional subject.

Harshita Goyal, a B.Com graduate from MS University of Baroda, secured the second rank, also choosing Political Science and International Relations as her optional. The third rank went to Dongre Archit Parag, a B.Tech graduate in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from VIT, Vellore, who opted for Philosophy.

This year, 1,009 candidates (725 men and 284 women) have been recommended for appointment to various prestigious services including the IAS, IFS, and IPS. The top five include three women and two men.

The Civil Services Examination is conducted in three phases: Prelims, Mains, and Interview. In 2024, over 9.92 lakh candidates applied for the exam, with 5.83 lakh actually appearing. After the Mains in September, 2,845 candidates were shortlisted for the Personality Test.

The top 25 candidates include 11 women and 14 men, with academic backgrounds in engineering, science, commerce, humanities, medical sciences, and architecture, from institutions like IITs, NITs, VIT, JNU, and Delhi University.

Among them, Shah Margi Chirag (B.E. in Computer Engineering) ranked fourth, while Aakash Garg (B.Tech in Computer Science) ranked fifth—both chose Sociology as their optional.

Notably, 45 candidates with benchmark disabilities were also recommended, including individuals with orthopedic, visual, hearing, and multiple disabilities.
