CM Nayab Singh Saini Promises Swift Compensation for Fire-Affected Farmers

Chandigarh, April 21 – Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has announced that farmers who suffered crop, livestock, or property losses due to recent fire incidents in the state will receive prompt compensation. So far, damages have been reported across 801 acres, and Deputy Commissioners have been instructed to assess the losses and prepare reports.

Saini urged farmers to submit claims at their respective Deputy Commissioner offices to ensure speedy transfers of compensation directly to their bank accounts. He assured that the government stands firmly with the farmers and that there is no need for them to worry.

The Chief Minister made this announcement during the inauguration ceremony of the Shri Radha Krishna Temple at Madhav Gaushala in Sukhdarshanpur village, Panchkula. Prior to the ceremony, he performed rituals and fed fodder to cows. On the occasion, Saini pledged Rs 21 lakh from his personal fund to the Gaushala, while Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda and Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana each announced donations of Rs 11 lakh.

Addressing the gathering, Saini said the temple would serve as a spiritual center, promoting love, compassion, and devotion in society. He emphasized that cow protection is deeply rooted in Haryana’s culture and that serving cows is a vital aspect of the state’s spiritual and cultural heritage.

Highlighting the state’s commitment to cow welfare, Saini said that since 2022, Madhav Gaushala has received nearly Rs 47 lakh in grants. He added that the Gaushala budget for the current year has been increased to Rs 595 crore, up from just Rs 2 crore before 2014. The government has also allocated grazing land for fodder production and enacted stricter laws for cow protection.

Three cow sanctuaries have been established in Nain (Panipat), Dhandhur (Hisar), and Panchkula to shelter stray cattle. These facilities, which already house around 6,500 animals, are equipped with sheds, water, and fodder, backed by Rs 8 crore in funding.

The Chief Minister also shared that the government had announced Rs 10 lakh grants for 200 gaushalas to build new sheds. Fifty of these gaushalas have already completed construction. Registered gaushalas in Haryana have increased from 215 in 2014 (housing 1.74 lakh cattle) to 683 today, supporting nearly 4 lakh stray cattle. Over the past decade, Rs 270 crore has been given for fodder, including Rs 166 crore last year alone to 608 gaushalas.

The event was also addressed by Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda and Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana, with several dignitaries in attendance, including Shri Shri 1008 Sampurnanand Ji Maharaj, Panchkula Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal, former Speaker Gian Chand Gupta, former Punjab Minister Manpreet Badal, and Gau Seva Commission Chairman Shravan Garg.
