CM Sukhu Releases Veteran’s Book, Promises Boost to Remote Regions and Education Reforms

Shimla, April 18, 2025: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu met 90-year-old social worker Hari Singh Rana during his visit to Pangi for the state-level Himachal Day celebrations. Rana presented his newly authored book “Mere Achhe Din” for release, which the Chief Minister gladly unveiled.

Wearing the region’s traditional white cap, Rana was warmly welcomed and invited to sit beside the CM. The Chief Minister praised Rana’s dedication to social service and extended best wishes for his continued efforts. Rana also submitted a memorandum with key developmental demands for the Pangi region. The CM assured appropriate action and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to uplifting remote and tribal areas.

Rana, a former Pradhan of Killar Gram Panchayat from 1979 to 1984, recalled past interactions with late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, including her 1984 visit to Pangi. Expressing satisfaction, he appreciated the government’s focus on inclusive development. Vidhansabha Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania, MLA Sunder Singh Thakur, and APMC Chamba Chairman Lalit Thakur were present during the event.

In another development on April 17, a delegation from Ani and Banjar areas in Kullu, led by Milkfed Chairman Budhi Singh Thakur, met CM Sukhu to discuss local demands. The Chief Minister assured that their concerns would be addressed sympathetically and announced that the Baga-Sarahan region would be developed for tourism. He said the initiative would create both direct and indirect jobs for youth.

Later that day, the Chief Minister chaired an Education Department meeting and announced that senior secondary sections in urban areas would be made co-educational. He reiterated the government’s commitment to improving student facilities and bringing innovation into the state’s education system.
