Shah Rukh-Kajol’s Iconic DDLJ Moment to Be Immortalised in London’s Leicester Square

London, April 10, 2025: In a historic first for Indian cinema, a bronze statue of Bollywood legends Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, capturing their iconic pose from the 1995 classic Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ), will soon grace Leicester Square in London.

The statue will be part of the renowned ‘Scenes in the Square’ movie trail, which pays tribute to cinematic greats in one of the most visited public spaces in the UK. The Heart of London Business Alliance confirmed the announcement on Wednesday, adding that the statue will be unveiled this spring — well in time for the film’s 30th anniversary on October 20.

DDLJ, a landmark romantic drama, marked the directorial debut of Aditya Chopra and was produced by his father, the legendary Yash Chopra. The film has become a timeless cultural phenomenon, redefining love stories in Indian cinema and resonating with generations of fans across the world.

The upcoming statue places Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol among the global cinematic elite already represented at Leicester Square, including legends like Charlie Chaplin and Harry Potter. It’s a rare and proud moment for Bollywood, as this becomes the first Indian movie honoured in the square’s permanent trail.
