Chandigarh, March 22, 2025 – In a bid to safeguard public health and enforce strict food safety regulations, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), under the directives of the Punjab Government, launched a joint inspection drive in Kharar, Mohali district.
An official spokesperson revealed that the operation was led by the VB Unit Mohali and the Food Safety Wing Mohali, under the supervision of the District Health Officer. The surprise inspections targeted food manufacturing units, vending stalls, restaurants, and hotels to ensure compliance with hygiene and safety standards.
During the operation, five premises were inspected, resulting in the issuance of one unhygienic challan and the collection of five food samples. These samples have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory in Kharar for further analysis.
Authorities stressed the importance of maintaining hygiene and warned that strict action would be taken against violators. The VB has planned additional inspections across Punjab to curb food safety violations and promote safe consumption practices.
The initiative reflects the Punjab Government’s commitment to maintaining high food safety and public health standards.
