Chandigarh, March 16, 2025 – Haryana Energy, Transport, and Labour Minister Anil Vij announced that the under-construction National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in Naggal, Ambala Cantonment will significantly enhance disease investigation and research in the region. The centre, being built at a cost of ₹17 crore, aims to serve patients from seven states, reducing the need to travel to Delhi or Pune for advanced medical testing and research.
Major Regional Health Hub
Speaking during an inspection of the construction site, Vij highlighted that the first phase of the project, spread across four acres, is progressing well. The main building will be constructed in the upcoming second phase. Once operational, the NCDC will focus on the identification, control, and prevention of infectious diseases like diarrhoea, typhoid, hepatitis, and measles.
Strategic Location and Research Goals
Vij emphasized that Ambala Cantonment’s strong connectivity by air, rail, and road makes it an ideal location for such an important facility. Regular medical samples from nearby health institutions will support continuous research and analysis. The centre will help identify emerging diseases early and implement effective control measures.
Strengthening Public Health Infrastructure
“The NCDC will play a critical role in strengthening Haryana’s healthcare infrastructure and improving public health outcomes,” Vij said. Scientists at the centre will work on developing strategies to combat infectious diseases and improve outbreak response in the region.
