Patna, March 15, 2025 – Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tej Pratap Yadav has stirred fresh controversy after allegedly forcing a policeman to dance during Holi celebrations at his residence in Patna. The incident, captured on video and widely shared on social media, has drawn sharp criticism from political opponents.
Holi Celebrations Turn Controversial
The drama unfolded at Yadav’s official residence, where the former Bihar minister hosted a Holi event reminiscent of his father Lalu Prasad Yadav’s infamous “kapda faad Holi” celebrations. Yadav was seen tearing the clothes of some supporters and driving a scooter around the neighborhood while chanting “Happy Holi Paltu Chacha” — a pointed dig at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for his political flip-flops with the RJD.
“Dance or Face Suspension”
In the viral video, Yadav is seen seated on a sofa on a makeshift stage, holding a microphone. He addresses a policeman named Deepak, saying, “Ae sipahi, ae Deepak, abhi ek gana bajaenge jis par tumko thumka lagana padega. Nahin lagaoge to tumko suspend kar denge. Bura na maano Holi hai” (Hey, policeman, Deepak, we will play a song now, and you have to dance. If you don’t, you’ll be suspended. Don’t mind, it’s Holi).
While the policeman didn’t break into a full dance, he humored Yadav by hopping a few times with his right arm raised. The incident raised eyebrows as it involved a uniformed officer responding to pressure from a political figure.
BJP Slams Yadav Over “Jungle Raj” Behavior
The BJP was quick to seize on the controversy. Party national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala condemned Yadav’s actions, drawing parallels with Lalu Prasad’s era. “Like father, like son. First, the father, as then CM, made the law dance to his tunes and turned Bihar into jungle raj. Now the son, despite being out of power, is trying to make protectors of law dance through threats and pressure,” Poonawala said.
He added, “This shows that RJD believes in jungle raj. If they come to power even by mistake, they will violate the law and make the protectors of law dance. This is a trailer. It’s important to keep them away from power.”
Political Fallout
Yadav has yet to respond to the criticism. The incident has reignited the political rivalry between the RJD and the BJP, with the ruling coalition likely to exploit the controversy in future campaigns.
