Washington, D.C. (National Times)– President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, stating that U.S. support will end if Ukraine does not negotiate a resolution to the Russia-Ukraine war.
During a high-stakes meeting at the Oval Office, Trump reportedly told Zelenskyy, “You are either going to make a deal, or we’re out. If we are out, you will fight it out, and I don’t think it’s going to be pretty.”
Trump suggested that without American backing, Ukraine’s position in the war would be severely weakened. He added, “I have empowered you to be a tough guy. But without the United States, I don’t think you would be a tough guy. You don’t have the cards.”
The meeting, which was initially scheduled to conclude with the signing of a framework mineral agreement, took an unexpected turn when tensions escalated into a verbal standoff between Trump, Zelenskyy, and Vice President JD Vance. The White House press pool later confirmed that the scheduled press conference had been abruptly cancelled.
Following the intense exchange, Zelenskyy was seen leaving the West Wing with a grim expression, more than two hours after his arrival, highlighting the strained relations between the two leaders.
