Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh), February 16, 2025 – To manage the extra rush of passengers during the Mahakumbh Mela, Northern Railway has announced four special trains to ensure smooth travel for devotees. The decision follows the recent stampede at New Delhi Railway Station, which resulted in 18 deaths and multiple injuries.
Special Trains for Devotees
Northern Railway has introduced the following four special trains:
Train No. 04420: Departs from New Delhi to Prayagraj Jn at 7:00 PM via Ghaziabad, Moradabad, Bareilly, Lucknow, Raebareli Jn, and Phaphamau Jn.
Train No. 04422: Another New Delhi to Prayagraj Jn service departing at 9:00 PM, following the same route.
Train No. 04424: Leaves from Anand Vihar Terminal to Prayagraj Jn at 8:00 PM via Ghaziabad, Moradabad, Bareilly, Lucknow, Raebareli, and Phaphamau.
Train No. 04418: Operates from New Delhi to Darbhanga Jn, departing at 3:00 PM via Ghaziabad, Chipyana Buzurg, Kanpur, Lucknow, Phaphamau, Varanasi, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Jn, and Patliputra Jn.
These trains aim to ease congestion and improve travel convenience for pilgrims attending the Mela.
Additional Trains by Central Railway
In response to the New Delhi stampede, Central Railway has also announced four special trains to Prayagraj.
Chief Public Relations Officer Swapnil Nila confirmed that additional arrangements have been made at the stations, including:
Extra ticket booking counters
Help booths for passenger assistance
Continuous announcements for travel updates
Authorities have advised passengers to follow travel instructions to ensure a smooth and safe journey.
