8 Illegal Pistols Seized in Amritsar Amid Crackdown on Trans-Border Arms Smuggling

Amritsar (National Times): In a major crackdown on trans-border arms trafficking, the Amritsar Rural Police, acting on specific intelligence inputs, carried out two separate operations, one of them in coordination with the Border Security Force (BSF Punjab), resulting in the seizure of eight illegal weapons and the arrest of four individuals.

According to official sources, the recovered cache includes five pistols of .30 caliber and three 9mm pistols, along with their magazines. The accused are suspected to be part of a larger cross-border arms smuggling syndicate.

FIRs have been registered at Police Station Gharinda, and further investigations are underway to uncover the broader network and possible linkages to organized crime across the border.

Taking to social media, the Punjab Police reiterated their commitment to cracking down on such criminal networks.

“@PunjabPoliceInd remains firmly committed to cracking down on organized crime and safeguarding the safety and security of our citizens,” the official statement read.

Authorities believe that the joint operation with BSF underscores the effectiveness of inter-agency coordination in countering threats to internal security, particularly in sensitive border districts like Amritsar.
