Ottawa: (Rajeev Sharma): The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has confirmed that 32 foreign nationals have been issued removal orders after being found inadmissible under Canadian immigration law, with 10 already deported from the country, following reviews tied to police investigations into organized extortion networks. The cases were referred to immigration authorities by law-enforcement agencies, including the B.C. Extortion Task Force, as part of a wider probe into threats and violence targeting business owners and community members in cities such as Surrey, Vancouver and other parts of Western Canada. CBSA officers are currently examining 296 people flagged as “persons of interest” to determine whether they have violated immigration conditions or are linked to criminal activity.
In a statement, the agency said, “As a result of these investigations, 32 people have been issued a removal order, including 10 people who have already been removed from Canada,” adding that it is working closely with police to identify foreign nationals who have no legal right to remain in the country. A federal government spokesperson stressed that public safety remains the priority, saying authorities are focused on “removing those who pose a risk to communities and upholding the integrity of Canada’s immigration system.” Officials noted that the latest removals form part of a broader rise in deportations across Canada in recent years as enforcement is stepped up against criminality, visa overstays and failed refugee claims.
