18 E-Rickshaws Gutted in Fire at Chhatbir Zoo, No Casualties Reported

Zirakpur (Gurpreet Singh): A major fire broke out at Chhatbir Zoo this morning around 8 a.m., reducing around 18 electric rickshaws to ashes. According to zoo staff, the blaze started suddenly in the parking area where the e-rickshaws were stationed. Within minutes, the fire spread rapidly, engulfing all the parked vehicles.

The staff immediately alerted the fire brigade, and multiple fire tenders rushed to the spot. Firefighters managed to bring the flames under control after a strenuous effort. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. Zoo authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire. Officials said it was a matter of relief that the blaze did not spread further inside the zoo premises, which could have endangered animals and visitors.

The e-rickshaws were introduced by the Chhatbir Zoo administration as an eco-friendly measure to reduce pollution within the zoo. Earlier, tourists were allowed to enter in their private vehicles, which was later restricted to protect the environment and ensure animal safety. Authorities are assessing the damage and taking steps to prevent such incidents in the future.
