15 killed, several injured as bus rams into parked truck in Rajasthan, PM Modi condoles deaths

National Times Bureau :-At least fifteen people were killed and several others got injured after a tempo traveller crashed into a parked truck on the Bharat Mala Expressway in Rajasthan’s Phalodi on Sunday night.

According to the information, the victims were returning from to Jodhpur after visiting the Kolayat temple, around 220 kilometres away. All the victims were residents of the Phalodi area in Jodhpur.

At least fifteen people were killed and several others got injured after a tempo traveller crashed into a parked truck on the Bharat Mala Expressway in Rajasthan’s Phalodi on Sunday night.

According to the information, the victims were returning from to Jodhpur after visiting the Kolayat temple, around 220 kilometres away. All the victims were residents of the Phalodi area in Jodhpur.

The injured were immediately rushed to the hospital and are currently undergoing treatment. 

“Fifteen passengers died on the spot, while two women sustained serious injuries. The injured were first taken to a hospital in Osian and later referred to Jodhpur,” Jodhpur Police Commissioner Om Prakash said.

A witness said that several small roadside food stalls had been set up along the Bharat Mala Highway, and the trailer was parked in front of one of them. The tempo traveller, speeding along the road, attempted to overtake a truck but crashed into the stationary trailer. Police teams, assisted by local residents and passing drivers, launched rescue operations to recover the bodies and help the injured.

“The impact of the collision was so strong that the bodies were trapped in their seats, making it extremely difficult to remove them,” said Phalodi Police Station Officer Amanaram.

Jodhpur Police Commissioner Om Prakash Mathuradas Mathur and Superintendent Vikas Rajpurohit visited the hospital to assess the medical care being provided to the injured. Rescue and relief efforts continued late into the night as officials worked to identify the deceased and notify their families.
