Chandigarh, October 21 — In a grand celebration of Diwali, Haryana Cabinet Minister Vipul Goel lit a 15-foot-tall ‘Aashadeep’ (Lamp of Hope) at Labour Chowk in Faridabad on Monday. The magnificent lamp, crafted from reused ghee and oil tins, symbolizes harmony, unity, and the triumph of light over darkness.
Addressing the gathering, Goel said that Diwali marks the victory of truth over falsehood and hope over despair. “The festival becomes meaningful when we resolve to spread this light to every section of society,” he said. The event drew enthusiastic participation from citizens, women, youth, and social organizations, transforming the celebration into a true public festival. The chants of “Deep Jalao, Aasha Badhao” (Light Lamps, Spread Hope) echoed through the air, filling the atmosphere with excitement and optimism.
The eco-friendly Aashadeep stands as a remarkable blend of tradition and sustainability. Alongside devotional songs, cultural performances, and lamp offerings, the event conveyed a message of love, brotherhood, and positivity. Residents praised the initiative as not only a Diwali celebration but also a symbol of the spirit of Amrit Kaal and a vision for a new, hopeful India.
Goel described the Aashadeep as a reflection of the tireless spirit of Faridabad’s workers, professionals, and citizens who continuously strive to make the city stronger and more beautiful. He reaffirmed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s goal of a Viksit Haryana and Uttam Faridabad.
“By next Diwali, we aim to transform Faridabad into a next-level development city,” Goel announced, outlining plans to elevate infrastructure, education, cleanliness, environment, and smart services to national standards. “Just as we make our homes brighter each Diwali, we must also make our Faridabad more excellent. When we unite with purpose, no darkness can stop us. That is the true message of Diwali,” he said.
The event marked a historic moment for Faridabad, celebrating not only the joy of Diwali but also the city’s collective dream of becoming a shining model of progress and prosperity.
