12 Naxalites Killed, 2 Jawans Martyred in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur Encounter

Bastar (Chhattisgarh), February 9, 2025: A fierce encounter between security forces and Naxalites in Bijapur district’s dense forests resulted in the elimination of 12 insurgents, while two jawans lost their lives in the gunfight. The clash erupted early Sunday morning during an anti-Naxal operation in the National Park area, with security forces engaging heavily armed militants in a prolonged battle.

Officials confirmed that the operation was led by a joint team comprising the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Special Task Force (STF), and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). In addition to the casualties, two security personnel sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment. Search operations are ongoing to recover weapons and clear the area of any remaining threats.

This latest encounter is part of an intensified crackdown on Naxal activities across the Bastar division, where security forces have ramped up patrols and intelligence-driven operations to dismantle insurgent networks. The offensive aims to curb Maoist influence in the region, which has been a hotspot for left-wing extremism. More details on the operation are awaited as forces continue combing efforts in the area.
